Folegandros & How to reach us
Discover the Island of Folegandros
Folegandros is a small island located at the centre of the Southwestern Cyclades next to Santorini. Its deep blue waters are in complete harmony with its landscapes of wild beauty; its lacey shores that dance along with the Mediterranean breeze show the way to the islands’ pristine beaches...images that every visitor will hold in their heart forever!
Anemi Hotel is situated only a few minutes from Karavostasis and the island’s Chora, a location that gives visitors the opportunity to discover most amazing spots of the island in a few minutes like Hochlidia beach with its tamarisk trees and family taverns offering some exceptional local dishes. You can also visit the most isolated and peaceful beaches of Folegandros by choosing one of the small traditional boats that will guide you to dreamy coves non-accessible by road, such as the beaches of Katergo or Livadaki.
Like every other Cycladian island, Folegandros is an enchanting place for evening strolls along the picturesque alleys of its villages. Take a walk around Karavostasis, Folegandros’ port, along the main road that connects our hotel with Chora, the vibrant centre of the island. Chora was built 200 meters above the sea and it is a rural paradise of tiled roads and cubic white houses with squares full of people enjoying a cup of Greek coffee and local delicacies…the simple, precious things in life. Pay attention to the sounds; chances are, the only thing you will hear is the wind and the sea. Nature is calling you. A truly captivating experience that keeps a well-hidden secret safe for those who wish to discover it. Just when you think that it cannot get any better, you will come across Kastro, the old section of Chora. Kastro, the Greek word for “castle”, is a medieval settlement that maintains its charisma until today taking visitors to a travel through time.
Hiking lovers will be thrilled on this amazing island. Folegandros slopes and hills are full of stone paths that lead to some of the most precious treasure of the island with the deep blue background of the Aegean Sea. For those who prefer aquatic activities, there is always the possibility of organizing a scuba or free diving session and snorkeling explorations so that they can delve into the mysteries of the rich seabed surrounding the island with the guidance and safety of well-trained tutors.
There are no bank branches on Folegandros but there are two ATMs: Alpha Bank and Greek Post Bank.
